Problem:
After entering the password nothing happens or an error message is displayed.

Solutions:

1. Verify your user name and password.
2. Click on "Log-in" instead of hitting the ENTER key
3. Ask for a new valid password from swiss-image.ch or your tourism partner. Please note: swiss-image.ch only answers inquires by representatives of the press

Problem:

Downloading a picture is not possible. An error message or a large version of the picture is displayed.


Solutions:

1. Check whether your browser accepts cookies (see above)
2. Check whether you have a valid password. If you do not see a DOWNLOAD button in the picture preview, you are logged in as guest and have no access to high-resolution image data.
3. Carry out download correctly. Downloading is possible in picture preview mode or from the shopping cart. Right-click on DOWNLOAD. A menu is displayed. Select "Save target as" (or similar) and enter the target location on your computer. Confirm this command and wait for the download to finish.
4. If you left-click on DOWNLOAD the picture is displayed in large format in your browser window. Depending on the browser, you will get a format other than JPEG. In this case you have to save the picture and re-save it as JPEG or TIFF with a suitable program.

We advice you to start the download as described in 3. with a right click.

Problem:

After log-in some pictures are displayed, but neither the picture search works nor can I browse further pages. An error message is displayed.

Solution:

1. 1. Your web browser has to accept cookies in order to let you navigate through the picture data base. Cookies are pieces of text information that a web server saves in your browser. In our case, the user name and password are saved in your web browser. This is a security measure.
   This type of cookies is also common in picture data bases and e-shops or e-banking and cause no harm.
   
   However, Internet Explorer does not accept cookies by default. You have to correct the cookie settings in a new Internet Explorer window or after every update. The easiest way to resolve this situation is the following:
   
   
   • Internet Explorer - open Extras
   • open Internet options
   • select Data security
   • slide the bar on the left to the level "low"
   • click on Apply
   • click on OK
   • close Internet Explorer and open it again
   • Log in again and the picture search should work now

Problem:

After entering one or more keywords an error message is displayed.

Solution:

1. Do not press the ENTER key to start the picture search but click on SEARCH

Problem: 

I simply cannot find a picture to the keyword "summer vacation". In addition to this, when I enter the picture number I cannot find a picture that I selected in the past.

Solution:

1. Use the wildcard "*" to find word combinations. In this case enter: summer* and click on SEARCH. Now many summer-related pictures are displayed. Make your selection visually or limit your search with synonyms - e.g. summer AND mountains
2. You can search for the picture by number. You have to replace the file extension .jpg with a *. The picture search with a number would then be STW9999* - click on SEARCH
